Important update regarding older Balboa "BWA" WiFi modules

Balboa has announced an important change concerning certain older WiFi modules using the BWA (Balboa Worldwide App), which allow remote control of the spa via the Internet.

Affected equipment
This change applies only to older BWA modules, in particular models such as the BW503, typically installed on older systems. These modules use the BWA cloud service to enable remote control from outside the home.

Transition to a subscription model
Until now, the BWA cloud service was free of charge. It will now become a paid subscription service. After a free trial period, an active subscription will be required to continue using remote access.

The indicative price is around €25 per year, with subscription and payment managed directly through the BWA application. Deployment has started in France and will gradually extend across Europe.

Balboa is offering a free trial period, the duration of which depends on how long the service has already been in use. At the end of this period, a subscription will be required for remote access.

Is the subscription mandatory?
No. Without a subscription, the module can still be used in local mode (connected to the same WiFi network as the spa, without using the cloud and without any additional cost).

Only remote access from outside the home will be disabled without a subscription.

How to identify your equipment
The easiest way is to check which application you are currently using. If you use the BWA (Balboa Worldwide App), your module is affected by this change. If you use the ControlMySpa application, your installation is not affected.
