This pump seal ensures that water doesn't leak out of the pump wet end, along the motor spindle.  It comes in two parts: one mounts on the wet end (in the centre of the photo) and one slots in behind the impeller (right of photo).

Waterway recommends that you replace the "Slinger" (the little white ring that sits on the pump spindle, seen in the left of the photo) at the same time as the pump seal, so we include it in this kit.
