Before you can separate a pump wet end from its motor, you must first unscrew the impeller (inside the wet end) from the motor spindle.  This tool allows you to accomplish this without having to dismantle the wet end.

Insert the tool into the return opening of the wet end and hook it to the impeller.  Turn the motor spindle to unscrew the impeller, then separate the wet end from the motor.
